Regulation
Grava Lybica 2027 Regulations
Article 1. Purpose of the regulations
These regulations govern participation in Grava Lybica 2027 – High-Altitude Gravel, establishing the conditions of participation as well as the rights, obligations and responsibilities of participants and the Organisation.
Registration and participation in the event imply that the participant has read, understood and fully accepted these regulations.
Article 2. Definition and nature of the event
Grava Lybica is a high-mountain gravel, navigation and adventure experience with a non-competitive format, focused on discovering the territory, individual responsibility, respect for the natural environment and coexistence with local communities.
The 2027 edition consists of two stages starting and finishing in Llívia, to be held on 29 and 30 May 2027. On Friday 28 May, participant reception, event presentation and race number collection will take place.
The routes will not be fully signposted, and participants must navigate using the official GPX track provided by the Organisation and a suitable GPS device.
Grava Lybica is not a race. There is no overall classification and no overall podium. The aim is to complete and enjoy each stage at your own pace, sharing a gravel and mountain experience.
Each stage will include one timed uphill segment, independent from the rest of the route, with recognition for the fastest female and male times.
Article 3. Organisation
Grava Lybica 2027 is a cycling event promoted by Llívia Town Council and co-organised by the Cycling Sports Section of CERETANA D’ACTIVITATS DE MUNTANYA SL, tax identification number B55330252, with registered office at C/ Beates, 18, 17520 Puigcerdà (Girona).

Depending on the registration option selected, the registration includes:
- participation in the corresponding stage or stages;
- official GPX track for each stage;
- identification race number;

In the event of expulsion or voluntary withdrawal during the event, the registration fee will not be refunded in full or in part.
Article 5. Minimum age
Participation in Grava Lybica is exclusively open to persons over 18 years of age.
Participants must have reached the age of 18 before starting the stage in which they are taking part.
Minors will not be allowed to participate under any circumstances, even with the authorisation of a parent or legal guardian.
Article 6. Insurance
The Organisation will provide collective accident insurance for all participants correctly registered for Grava Lybica, as well as public liability insurance, in accordance with applicable legislation.
Insurance coverage will be subject to the terms of the policies taken out by the Organisation and will apply exclusively under the conditions and during the official running of the event.
These insurance policies do not replace the participant’s individual responsibility, nor do they imply that the Organisation assumes any responsibility beyond that legally applicable to it.
Each participant is responsible for any damage they may cause to themselves, third parties or property when such damage results from conduct attributable to the participant, without prejudice to any applicable insurance coverage.
Article 7. Race number collection
Race number collection for Grava Lybica 2027 will take place at Parc de Sant Guillem in Llívia at the following times:
- Friday 28 May: 17:00 to 20:00.
- Saturday 29 May: 07:00 to 08:00 and 17:00 to 20:00.
Participants registered for both stages must collect their race number on Friday afternoon or on Saturday before the start of the stage.
Participants registered only for Sunday’s stage may collect it on Saturday from 17:00 to 20:00.
An official identity document must be presented when collecting the race number, together with any other administrative requirements established by the Organisation.
The race number is personal and non-transferable and must remain visible while taking part in the event.
Article 8. Mandatory equipment
To take part in Grava Lybica, participants must start with the following equipment:
- an approved cycling helmet, which must be worn throughout the route;
- a bicycle in perfect mechanical condition and suitable for a mountain gravel route;
- a GPS device with the official stage track correctly loaded and sufficient battery life to complete the route;
- a working mobile phone, with sufficient battery life and the Organisation’s contact number available;
- an appropriate hydration system;
- sufficient food to complete the stage, regardless of the feed stations provided by the Organisation;
- repair equipment appropriate to the bicycle and tyre system used, sufficient to deal with common mechanical incidents during the route. At a minimum: basic tools, puncture repair equipment and a pump or inflation system;
- an official identity document;
- an emergency thermal blanket.
Each participant is responsible for carrying the spare parts, tools and specific equipment they may need to deal with common mechanical incidents affecting their bicycle.
The mechanical support service provided by the Organisation does not replace the participant’s obligation to start with the necessary equipment to deal with incidents during the route.
The Organisation reserves the right to inspect mandatory equipment before the start or during the stage.
Failure to carry mandatory equipment may prevent participation or result in exclusion from the event.
Article 9. Start procedure
Both stages of Grava Lybica 2027 will start at 08:00 from Parc de Sant Guillem in Llívia.
Participants will be organised into different start pens according to the average speed indicated during registration.
Whenever conditions and the relevant authorities allow, starts will be staggered, with a few minutes between each pen, in order to improve traffic flow and avoid excessive concentrations of riders during the opening kilometres.
Participants must enter their assigned start pen and follow the instructions of Organisation staff.
The event will take place in coordination with the relevant traffic and safety authorities, and all participants must comply with their instructions at all times.
Article 10. Stage schedules and maximum times
Both stages of Grava Lybica 2027 will start at 08:00.
The maximum time allowed to complete each stage will be:
- Saturday 29 May: 8 hours.
- Sunday 30 May: 7 hours.
The Organisation may establish intermediate cut-off points for safety, logistical or organisational reasons. If so, their locations and corresponding cut-off times will be communicated to participants before the start.
Participants who exceed the maximum time, fail to reach a cut-off point within the established time or are passed by the closing rider under the conditions set out in Article 14 may be considered outside the event’s standard operational support and must follow the Organisation’s instructions.
Being outside the standard operational support does not automatically entitle a participant to collection by the broom vehicle.
Article 11. Feed stations, equipment and external assistance
Each participant is responsible for carrying the hydration, food, mechanical equipment and spare parts necessary to complete each stage safely.
The Organisation will provide one on-route feed station featuring local products during each stage, as well as finish-line refreshments.
The existence of these feed stations does not exempt participants from starting with sufficient water and food to complete the route and deal with unforeseen situations.
Each participant must carry the mechanical equipment required to deal with common incidents during the route, in accordance with the mandatory equipment set out in Article 8.
The Organisation will provide a mechanical support service at a fixed location in Llívia, with a mechanic assigned to deal with incidents before and after the stages. This service does not include mechanical assistance on the route.
Organised external assistance and support vehicles are not permitted on the route.
Unplanned occasional assistance at establishments open to the public or from other participants is permitted.
The following are not permitted:
- receiving planned logistical support at specific points on the route;
- pre-positioning equipment or supplies along the route;
- motorised accompaniment;
- participation using electric bicycles (e-bikes).
Failure to comply with these rules may result in exclusion from the event.
Article 12. Route and navigation
Grava Lybica routes will not be fully signposted. Navigation is an essential part of the experience, and each participant is responsible for following the official GPX track provided by the Organisation.
Participants must use a suitable GPS device or navigation system, with the official track loaded and sufficient battery life to complete the stage.
Participants are responsible for checking before the start that the track is correctly loaded and that their device is working properly.
If a participant leaves the route, they must safely rejoin the official track, preferably by returning to the last correct point on the track. Shortcuts may not be used to shorten the route.
The Organisation is not responsible for navigation errors or deviations resulting from an incorrect interpretation or use of the track by the participant, without prejudice to any responsibilities that may legally apply.
The Organisation may modify the route for safety reasons, weather conditions, trail conditions or instructions from the relevant authorities. In such cases, participants will be provided with an updated track or the corresponding instructions through the available communication channels.
There will be no individual live GPS tracking of participants by the Organisation.
Article 13. Timed segments
Each stage of Grava Lybica will include one timed uphill segment, designed as a specific challenge within a non-competitive experience.
Timing will apply exclusively to these segments. The total stage time will not be timed, there will be no overall classification and times from different segments will not be cumulative.
Each stage will recognise:
- the fastest female time on the timed segment;
- the fastest male time on the timed segment.
Winners will receive prizes determined by the Organisation and announced through the event’s official channels.
To be eligible for recognition, participants must have correctly completed the timed segment and complied with these regulations. The Organisation may invalidate a result in the event of an irregularity, route infringement or conduct contrary to the safety rules.
Traffic, safety and respect for other route users remain fully applicable during timed segments.
Being on a timed segment does not grant any right of way and does not justify conduct that could endanger other participants or third parties.
The Organisation may neutralise, modify or cancel a timed segment if safety, weather, traffic or route conditions require it.
Timed segments do not turn Grava Lybica into a race: they are a challenge within the adventure.
Article 14. Closing rider (“Green Flag”)
The event will include an Organisation rider acting as the stage closing rider, identified as the “Green Flag”. They will ride an electric bicycle (e-bike) and will be clearly identified as a member of the Organisation.
Their role is to mark the position of the last participant who remains within the standard operational support of the event and to indicate when the Organisation may begin withdrawing services, volunteers and logistical resources linked to participant passage.
The Green Flag will progress in accordance with the maximum stage times and, where applicable, the cut-off points established by the Organisation.
Participants must follow their instructions at all times.
Once the Green Flag passes a participant, that participant may be considered outside the standard operational support of the stage and must follow the Organisation’s instructions.
The Green Flag is not a mechanical assistance service and does not replace the broom vehicle described in Article 15.
Article 15. Withdrawals, broom vehicle and disciplinary measures
In the event of withdrawal, participants must notify the Organisation using the contact telephone number provided for the event.
If a participant cannot continue the stage under their own means, the Organisation will provide a broom vehicle to facilitate their return to the start or finish area.
The broom vehicle is not an immediate rescue service or an on-demand transport service.
Collection will take place as soon as reasonably possible depending on the participant’s location, accessibility of the collection point, safety requirements, other incidents and vehicle availability. Consequently, waiting times may vary.
Where necessary and safe to do so, the Organisation may ask the participant to move to an accessible location to facilitate collection.
Being outside the standard operational support of the stage does not automatically imply collection by the broom vehicle. This service is intended primarily for participants who are unable to continue under their own means.
While waiting, participants must remain in a safe place and follow the Organisation’s instructions.
In the event of an accident or emergency, the safety of the participant and third parties must always take priority and, where necessary, participants must contact the emergency services first and inform the Organisation as soon as possible.
Withdrawing without informing the Organisation may trigger unnecessary search procedures and may be considered a breach of these regulations.
Depending on their nature and seriousness, breaches of these regulations may result in a warning, invalidation of a timed result, exclusion from a stage or expulsion from the event, without prejudice to any measures required for safety reasons.
Article 16. Safety, open roads, acceptance of risk and responsibility
Grava Lybica is a non-competitive sporting event held mainly on tracks, roads and trails open to traffic and other users in both Spanish and French territory, without full road closures.
Participants remain ordinary users of the roads and tracks at all times and must comply with:
- applicable traffic regulations;
- existing signage;
- instructions from the relevant authorities and the Organisation;
- the priority of other users where applicable;
- specific regulations governing any natural areas through which the route passes.
The presence of a timed segment does not grant right of way under any circumstances and does not exempt participants from complying with traffic and safety regulations.
Each participant declares that they are in suitable physical and health condition to undertake a mountain gravel activity of the nature of Grava Lybica and that they have sufficient preparation to participate safely.
Participation implies acceptance of the risks inherent in mountain cycling, which may include:
- falls and collisions with participants, vehicles or third parties;
- traffic accidents;
- uneven or poor surface conditions;
- navigation errors;
- adverse weather conditions;
- fatigue or exhaustion;
- mechanical incidents;
- sudden medical conditions;
- the presence of animals, pedestrians, cyclists or other route users.
Each participant is responsible for adapting their speed and riding to the terrain, traffic, visibility, weather conditions and their own abilities.
The Organisation will coordinate the safety, assistance and support arrangements planned for the event, but these services cannot guarantee the absence of risks inherent in mountain cycling.
Participation and acceptance of these risks are understood without prejudice to any responsibilities that may legally apply to the Organisation or third parties.
Registration implies that the participant has read, understood and accepted this article.
Article 17. Respect for the environment
Grava Lybica promotes responsible cycling that respects the natural environment, the territory and the people who live there.
Participants must remain on the roads and tracks that form part of the official route and comply at all times with the instructions of the Organisation, the authorities and the regulations applicable to natural areas.
The following are strictly prohibited:
- dropping litter or packaging during the route;
- deliberately leaving the route or using shortcuts;
- damaging flora, fauna, crops, property or any element of the natural or cultural heritage;
- creating unnecessary noise or behaviour that disturbs the environment;
- behaving disrespectfully towards residents, livestock farmers, pedestrians, hikers or other trail users.
Waste generated during the stage must be carried until it can be disposed of at designated points or feed stations.
Coexistence with other users is part of the Grava Lybica spirit. Participants must reduce their speed, give way where necessary and behave respectfully and cautiously, particularly in shared areas.
Serious breaches of these rules may result in immediate expulsion from the event.
Article 18. Cancellation, modifications and force majeure
The Organisation may modify, neutralise, shorten, postpone or partially or completely cancel a stage or the event where circumstances arise that may compromise participant safety or the proper running of Grava Lybica.
Such circumstances may include, among others, adverse weather, fire risk, trail conditions, official warnings, emergencies, administrative restrictions, instructions from the relevant authorities or other force majeure situations.
If a modification takes place before or during a stage, participants must follow the Organisation’s instructions. Safety will always take priority over the planned route or programme.
In the event of the complete cancellation of the entire event before it begins, the registration fee will be refunded, less any non-recoverable administration costs where legally permitted.
For two-stage registrations, if at least one of the two stages has taken place and the other must be cancelled, no full or partial refund of the registration fee will be due.
For one-stage registrations, if Sunday’s stage is cancelled before it begins and cannot take place, the applicable refund conditions will be applied in accordance with these regulations and applicable law.
Changes to the route, distance, elevation gain, schedules, location of services or programme for justified reasons will not entitle participants to a refund, provided that the event can still take place safely, without prejudice to any rights participants may have under applicable law.
The Organisation may update these regulations when necessary. Any substantial change affecting the conditions of participation will be communicated through the official Grava Lybica channels.
Article 19. Image rights and data protection
Participants authorise the Organisation to capture and use their image in photographs and videos taken during Grava Lybica for informational, promotional and event communication purposes, within the limits permitted by applicable law.
This authorisation includes publication through Grava Lybica’s official channels, social media, website, promotional materials and other media linked to the promotion of the event.
Personal data provided during the registration process will be processed by CERETANA D’ACTIVITATS DE MUNTANYA SL for the purpose of managing participation in Grava Lybica, in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and applicable Spanish data protection legislation.
Participants may exercise their rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction and portability where applicable by emailing info@gravalybica.cc.
Full information on the processing of personal data is available in the Privacy Policy on the Grava Lybica website.
Registration implies acceptance of the participation conditions relating to image rights and personal data processing, without prejudice to the rights granted to participants under applicable legislation.
Article 20. Languages and interpretation
These regulations are available in Catalan, Spanish, English and French.
In the event of any discrepancy, contradiction or difference in interpretation between the different language versions, the Catalan version will prevail.
Article 21. Final acceptance
Registration and participation in Grava Lybica imply the full reading, understanding and acceptance of these regulations.
The participant declares that they have read and accepted all the conditions governing their participation in the event.
